12 oz of Simply Soft Worsted Weight Yarn
Hook size H
Alternate yarn usage – any soft medium worsted weight yarn such as Red Heart Soft

Chain 54, join with a sl st to form a circle being careful not to twist chain.
(Entire poncho is worked in rounds)
Round 1
Ch 3, dc in next ch, ch 1, * sk 1 ch, dc in next 2 ch, ch 1. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3 (54 stitches and spaces)
Round 2
Ch 3, dc in same stitch, dc in next dc, *ch1 sk ch 1 space, 2 dc in next dc, 1dc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch 3 (72 stitches and spaces)
Round 3
Ch 3, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk ch 1 sp, dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch. (90 stitches and spaces)
Round 4
Ch 3, dc in each dc and ch sp around. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch 3.
Round 5
Ch 7, (dtr, ch 2) 4 times in first stitch. *ch 1, sk 4 dcs (dtr, ch 2) 5 times in same dc. Repeat around . Join with a sl st into 5th chain of beginning ch.
Round 6
Ch 3, 2 dc in next ch 2 space, 3 dc in next 3 ch 2 spaces * ch 2, 3dc in next 4 ch 2 spaces* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch 3.
Round 7
Sl st in the next 6 dc’s until you get to the center dc (between the 6th and the 7th dc) ch 7, dtr in same space, ch 2, repeat dtr, ch 2, 4 times in same stitch,* ch 1, (dtr, ch2) 5 times in each of the centers of the dc’s of previous row. Join with a sl in 5th ch of beg chain.
Rounds 8-13
Repeat rounds 6 & 7 for desired length. (4 times should be a size 4-5. But you can make as long as you want here, just end with round 6 and continue to round 15 of pattern)
Round 14
Repeat round 6
Round 15
1 sc in each dc and 2 sc in each space around.
Fasten off

Collar
Join yarn in any chain, sc around. Join to first sc with a sl st. ch 1, do not turn, sc around
Fasten off, weave in ends.
